|Alton Road Runners Club Est. 1979|
We would like to send out our apologies to all of the runners and their families today for the delay in getting the race started, and some confusion in the race registration area with people not having numbers to run or not being signed up when you registered online. We will be honest with you all, if something could have gone wrong this morning, it did. The road crew we hire to bring the cones and barricades to shut the road down were late this morning, and they did not bring enough cones to cover the 5 miles of road we needed to clear off. As mentioned before, there was not enough numbers brought for registration, and there was people who signed up in advanced that somehow got missed in the process and didn't have a number. There were numerous other things that went wrong this morning as well, but we tried our hardest to correct all the problems and give everyone a great race experience they deserve. At least it didn't rain on us! It could have been worse!
With all this being said, we just want to apologize one more time for all the delays this morning, and we would also like to thank all of the runners and spectators for their patience and understanding this morning. We ended up having one of the fastest races in the history of the GRRR with 12 people running sub 60 minutes. We are already planning out what we can do next year to fix all of the problems that happened this morning and we hope you will continue to come out and run our race every year. We always try to put on a fun race!
Results can be found here if you haven't seen them yet. We would also like to thank all of our volunteers who came out this morning to help us put this race on. They are an amazing group of people who braved the cold this morning and we cannot thank them enough. It would be impossible to do without them. Only 364 more days until next year's race!
